Two contestants will see their chances at winning a £50,000 prize thwarted as they are dumped from Love Island just days before the grand finale.

In scenes set to air in Wednesday’s episode, one of the remaining couples will discover they are the least popular on the island following a public vote.

With two more leaving the Majorcan villa, there will be just five couples left battling it out for the cash prize.

Viewers of the ITV2 dating programme will see the islanders grapple with baby simulators in a parenting challenge, before Gabby Allen breaks down in tears amid a fraught conversation with her co-stars.

After spending the morning with their unexpected arrivals, the girls are given a break and the chance to spend lunch together while their male partners have to remain looking after their fake offspring.

The tensions that have built in the villa over recent days – following a brutal Twitter challenge and a lie detector test – spill over into the lunch.

Allen, who was told she was lying when asked about her true feelings for boyfriend Marcel Somerville, tells the others she was very upset by the experience and that she did not feel supported.

She says: “Honestly, I was so gutted because not even just for myself but for Marcel. I didn’t want him to be humiliated or upset by the thing.”

She adds that she did not feel she had a “strong support system” and that the reaction from others was “really cold”.

Montana Brown explains it was difficult for her to “back” Allen following the Twitter challenge’s revelation that Allen and Somerville had texted each other about her and her boyfriend Alex Beattie behind their backs.

Brown says: “I thought about it and I felt like my feelings towards you were compromised then because it couldn’t have been something good on the text.”

Asked by Amber Davies why she had to text with Somerville rather than “say it out loud”, Allen replies: “I don’t want to have any confrontation with anyone, I hate it.

“I didn’t want to say it out loud because there were people around and I felt like I had to get something off my chest and that was the only way I could have done it at that moment in time.”

Brown says it was a “calculating” move, causing Allen to cry.

“I don’t even care about my feelings when it comes to this, but that is not what I wanted to come back from the test,” Allen says.

“That is not what I wanted to hear in the tweet challenge.

“I come to the fire pit and ask for advice and we already know what had been said in the test and what questions I failed on and then I felt like (you kept reminding me).

“I was like, ‘Guys I know that, I’m trying to fix this, I’m trying to move forward.'”

She adds: “I felt like it was dig, dig, dig and I felt like I had no one.”

Love Island continues on weeknights and Sundays at 9pm on ITV2.
