Russell Brand will show his "sensitive" side in Diablo Cody's directorial debut, co-star Julianne Hough has revealed.

The Rock Of Ages co-stars will reunite for the as-yet-untitled film, formerly known as Lamb Of God, alongside Holly Hunter and Octavia Spencer.

"I think you're going to see a different side to him in this movie. He still has his Russell-isms but not as much - and you really see a sensitive side to him, the side that I got to know," she said.

Julianne also can't wait to share screen time with Transformers heartthrob Josh Duhamel in Lasse Hallstrom's Safe Haven.

"I go to Southport to start shooting next week and I'm chopping all my hair off. I'm really excited," she explained.

"I feel like this is Josh's thing. People already love him - he's not a bad guy to look at, you know - but this is going to be really good for him."

The actress - who plays small-town girl Sherrie in Rock Of Ages - is excited about how her career is going.

"Lasse Hallstrom is the most prestigious director I'm going to be working with. This is such a growing point in my acting career," she explained.

"I've had my security blanket with my singing and dancing. That is what has made me more confident with the acting. The Diablo movie was super-dramatic, and with that and Safe Haven, I'm going to be stretching my acting chops so I'm very excited."
