Somerset Art Weeks 2013: Chard and Ily talent

SOMERSET Art Weeks’ 2013 Festival opens this Saturday for an annual celebration of the county’s top creative talents.
Championed by Grand Designs’ Kevin McCloud, the event’s high-profile patron, this year’s Somerset Art Weeks involves a total 109 exhibitions from 400 different artists.
‘Skills Unearthed: The Art Blackdowns’, is a collaborative exhibition inspired by the heritage and landscape of the Blackdown Hills, one of the UK’s 36 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is now under way at Cotley Tithe Barn near Chard.
The ten artists – Carly Batchelor (photography), Catherine Bass (music), Ruth Bell (contemporary dance/film), Louise Cottey (textiles), Jon England (painting/film), Sarah Hitchens (ceramics), Tim Martin (film/drawing), Bryony Tidball, Andre Wallace and Gillian Widden (sculpture), are associates of the Blackdown Hills Artists and Makers.
The exhibition is on now until Sunday October 6, and open Thursday-Sunday, 11am-5pm in the ancient Tithe Barn, Cotley, TA20 3EP.
