Innovative artwork Makes the Most of Barrington Court, Somerset Art Weeks
1:46pm Wednesday 25th September 2013 in What's On
FIVE innovative artists have given Barrington Court a full blown, eye-catching make-over, the stunning results of which are available for public view as part of Somerset Art Weeks Festival.
With Grand Designs’ Kevin McCloud, SAW’s high-profile patron, dubbing it “invaluable” and “glorious” in its “cultural exploration”, art spots range from well-worn art venues and community spaces to open houses.
In the ‘Make the Most’ initiative, the five creatives have made fresh and alternative use of the space in the restored Tudor manor.
Laura Ellen Bacon’s vast and magnificent willow installation fills the Old Kitchen, while Maeve Clancy’s expansive paperwork in the Great Hall tells the detailed history of the house and garden.
The expressive stone calligraphy of Thomas Appleton, intricate digitally milled woodwork of Gary Allson and sumptuous leatherwork of Laura Youngson Coll have all served to turn Barrington into a true arts hub.
Make the Most runs at Barrington Court until October 6 and normal admission applies.
