Double Dillington delight for classical lovers
2:44pm Friday 11th October 2013 in What's On
A CARNEGIE Hall concert pianist and Head of Strings at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts comes to Ilminster’s Dillington House later this month for a dual concert day.
Pianist Michael Dussek’s artistry has graced some of the world’s best-known music venues, and the Royal Academy of Music fellow’s recordings have received rave reviews from the likes of BBC Music magazine and for his “pianistic panache” by the Daily Telegraph.
Leos Cepicky took up the violin aged six and became a founder-member of the Wihan Quartet in Prague, and is now an in-demand professor of violin at his alma mater, the Prague Academy of Performing Arts.
Cepicky and Dussek will perform together at 2.30pm on Sunday, October 27, with a repertoire spanning Beethoven’s Spring Sonata, Bach’s Sonata No.1 in G-minor, Ysaye’s Sonata Ballada No.3 opus 27, the Brahms Sonata in A-major opus 100, and Ravel’s La Tzigane.
Leos’ solo performance, ‘Bach the Magnificent’, will follow at 6pm.
Tickets cost £15 for Dussek and Cepicky’s afternoon performance, £10 for Cepicky’s evening show, and £30 for the two, including high tea.
