I HAVE a dreadful confession – I have never been a real fan of the Lloyd-Webber dynasty’s work.

Yet I can safely say this was the best version of any of his shows I have seen.

The pace was relentless, the singing was superb and the whole piece was cohesive and hugely audience-friendly.

Luke Marshall was a very charismatic Joseph, presenting the songs in a finely-nuanced way, showing his real understanding of musical theatre – although I was a bit worried about the security of his loin-cloth in one scene!

I was also impressed with the ‘narrators’ or chorus, whose excellent delivery and acting gave the show momentum.

The other characters had great interaction. The Brothers, with their individual characters, were similarly firmly confident singers.

I liked the Country music parody by Anna and Lisa, and the Rockabilly Pharaoh by Stuart Cumming.

Some nice comedy moments included the ever lugubrious Phil Hunt as Potiphar and Jill Taylor, his wife.
One of the real strengths of this show, though, was the contribution of the younger cast members.

Their energy levels did not let up for a second and their clear enthusiasm and enjoyment of what they were doing was evident to the very appreciative audience.

Congratulations on a show in which the energy levels, singing and musical theatre skills never faltered for a second.
