Ranulph Fiennes to give talk in Taunton
12:00pm Saturday 28th December 2013 in What's On
RANULPH Fiennes, the man dubbed 'the world's greatest explorer' by the Guinness Book of Records, will give a book talk in Taunton on January 9.
Now 69, Sir Fiennes was the first to reach both Poles; to cross the Antarctic and Arctic Ocean; and the first to circumnavigate the world along its polar axis.
The former SAS soldier is also the oldest Briton ever to reach the summit of Everest (aged 64).
In his newest published book, Cold: Extreme Adventures at the Lowest Temperatures on Earth, he looks at the history of mankind's exploration of these hostile environments, including his own treks.
Tickets for the event at St James' Church, Taunton, cost £8 as standard or £5 for students. Call 01823-337742 or email email@example.com
