EYE-CATCHING landscapes and warm paintwork by the late artist Mike Aplin is featured in a show now on in Chard.

The reappearance of Aplin’s work in public follows a poignant retrospective of his paintings at Ilminster’s Meeting House last autumn.

The Gallery exhibition also brings together pieces by Alan Williams, Roy and Dorette Biggs, Vic Pratley, Terry Ward and Ian Whitehead.

Roy Biggs, a former engineer and archery coach, began practising art in retirement, and said: “I paint for pleasure, and in watercolour, because I like the freedom of colour against the restriction and discipline of how you use it.”

The opening times are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and 6.30pm, Friday and Saturday, until the end of January. The picture here by Mike Aplin is called ‘Small Bay California’.
