AN EXCITING performing arts programme awaits Ilminster Warehouse Theatre fans when it reopens in September for its new season.

Ilminster Entertainments Society, the Warehouse’s resident dramatists, have enjoyed sizzling success this summer with ‘Steel Magnolias’ and Encore Youth Theatre’s original play on the Great War, ‘Letters Home’.

And it’s a Charles Dickens’ adaptation that will welcome theatre-lovers come autumn with ‘The Haunting’, followed by ‘Poppies & Proms’ with Taunton Concert Band, and on into October, with farce, ‘Move Over Mrs Markham’, by Ray Cooney.

Appearances by guest dramatists and film screenings are also billed.

In the interim, volunteers – the lifeblood of the Warehouse Theatre – are closing the venue’s doors to get busy with repairs and improvement work in time for September.

Speaking on behalf of IES, Nicola Della Valle said: “We’re always looking for people to join in – it’s a great way to make new friends and become part of a busy team, giving the time you want.

“Even sweeping the stage can make a difference. We are always looking for people who can offer time during the day once a week to help with stage sets, design, props, painting, wardrobe, lights and sound.

“Or you can help out on the show evenings to meet and greet in the foyer, selling coffees and ice creams.”

If you are interested in joining the volunteering team, call the theatre on 07943-779880.
