CHAIRMAN Rosalie Palmer welcomed members and nine visitors to the March meeting.
She announced that the club would be going to Winchester in June where members will be able to see the flower festival being held in the cathedral. Names were taken.
Rosalie welcomed Lisa Fowler, the demonstrator, whose title was Spring has Sprung.
Lisa produced five varied designs placing them in containers she had made herself.
Her foliage included winter jasmine, flowering ivy, pittisporum and curled tulip leaves.
Lisa included many varieties of spring flowers arranged both in their growing pots and oasis, and, to give variety, roses, camellia, ranuncula and gerbera were used.
Lisa told members about her experiences at Chelsea Flower Show last year and she brought with her the designs she had made that won her a gold medal and Best in Show. She has been invited back to Chelsea 2015.
Member Ann Gough gave a vote of thanks.
Competition results: the three entries were in the novice class. Ann Newman got eight points and Valerie Garth and Pat Sargent eight points. Judge’s choice was Ann Newman.
The next meeting is on Thursday, April 2, when Barbara Clatworthy will demonstrate under the title Pots of Colour. The competition title is Easter Bonnet. Doors open at 1.30pm for a 2pm start. Visitors are always welcome.
