THE annual meeting saw the appointment of a new president.

At the end of the meeting, chairman Drew Anderson announced that the committee had voted and that Dick Moon had been chosen.

Outgoing president Gail Purdon did the honours, presenting Mr Moon with the president's ribbon of office. The new president gave Gail and members an offer of thanks.

Mr Moon said: “I am honoured to be asked to be president, especially having only been a member of the club since September 2012.”

He added that he retired to Chard from the Isle of Wight and until joining the club had never been a member of any other photography club or association.

He was made welcome at the club where he managed to quickly fit in with great like-minded members, making friends easily.

He has also been for the last 18 months or so the club's press officer and has worked hard alongside the committee to try and promote the club and increase membership, which has gone up by 13 in the last year.

“We hope we will be able to maintain these numbers or indeed increase them over the next year,” said Mr Moon.

The club meets on the first and third Thursday of the month in the Baptist Church Hall, Holyrood Street, Chard, at 7.30pm. Anyone interested can go along to the meetings and is welcome to visit twice before being asked to join the group officially.
