THE passion and power of flamenco come to Ilminster Arts Centre on Saturday, September 26 - and you can join in.

An introductory workshop, led by skilled flamenco practitioner Aneta Skut, will give beginners the chance to try their hands (and feet) at this fascinating and culturally rich dance form.

Participants will experience the flavour of the Spanish south, through listening to flamenco music, clapping the rhythm and dancing.

After an initial warm up, the workshop will focus on footwork and arm exercises, and flamenco technique before participants put their newly acquired dance skills into practice in a short choreographed piece.

No specialist equipment is needed but participants should wear clothing that allows a full range of movement. Ladies taking part in the workshop are advised to wear shoes with a slight heel (not slip-ons), while male participants should wear formal shoes (not trainers).

Come along, clap your hands, stamp your feet and enjoy this exciting new workshop at the Arts Centre.

To book your place, telephone the box office on 01460-54973.

It is taking place on September 26 from 10.30am to 12.30pm and will cost £6 per person, but advance booking is recommended.
