CANADIAN comic Phil Nicol headlines this month's Chard Comedy Monthly gig tonight (Wednesday).
Born in Scotland and raised in North America, Phil first found fame as a member of the musical comedy trio Corky and the Juice Pigs.
The singer-songwriter won a coveted if.comedy award for his 2006 show, The Naked Racist, and was nominated for a Chortle award in 2007.
One of his most prominent acting roles was as Philip Salon in Boy George's musical, Taboo, which was shown in the West End of London.
Phil has also starred alongside Christian Slater in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest at the Gielgud Theatre and in The Odd Couple at the Assembly Hall, with Alan Davies and Bill Bailey.
His frenetic stand-up routines often include musical elements, with Nichol performing songs on his acoustic guitar.
Phil will be joined by hotly-tipped newcomer Joe Wilkinson and resident host Craig Campbell.
The comedy starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £10 on the door.
Advance tickets are available from the Chard Tourist Information Centre or by calling 01460-65710.
