INFLUENTIAL folk group Waterson:Carthy are performing at The Brewhouse theatre in Taunton on Saturday, October 24.
Over the past 30 years Norma Waterson, Martin Carthy and their daughter Eliza have established themselves as England's leading folk dynasty.
They have a repertoire of predominantly traditional songs and tunes but also occasionally perform contemporary music from various sources.
Their instrumentation is based largely around Martin’s guitar, Eliza’s fiddle and the melodeons of Saul Rose, who returned to the band in 2007 following a seven-year hiatus.
Individually, Martin, Norma and Eliza have won or been nominated several times in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and Waterson:Carthy won awards for Best Group and Best Traditional Track in 2000.
Eliza has also been twice nominated for the Mercury Music Prize for UK album of the year - in 1998 for Red Rice and again in 2003 for Anglicana.
Waterson:Carthy will be on stage from 7.45pm and tickets cost £18 full price, £16 for concessions on 01823-283244.
