THE Brewhouse theatre in Taunton kicks off the new year with a double dose of comedy on Friday, January 8.
Two of the stars from this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival will headline the Brew Ha Ha comedy club from 8pm.
First up is Russell Kane’s Shakespearian-influenced comedy play, Fakespeare: The Tragickal Saveings of King Nigel.
Loaded with references to the Bard’s work, the play tells the story of Nigel, a vile Essex banker torn between his fat orange wife – ‘the Gorgon’ – and his ‘semi-chav’ secretary, Donna.
Nigel also has to choose between suicide and a nefarious investment in Sudan, which will spare him from a lifetime’s shopping in the wrong class of supermarket.
Also taking to the stage will be up-and-coming comedy star Dan Antopolski, with his show Silent But Deadly.
The triple Perrier nominee is best known for his surreal style of stand-up, which he has performed for audiences in places as far flung as New York, Melbourne and Montreal.
He also won the prize for the funniest joke at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
Tickets cost £12 full price, £12 for seniors and £10 concesssions.
To book call the box office on 01823-283244.
