In conversation at the David Hall

AFTER a short break last year, the popular 'In Conversation With…' series returns to the David Hall, South Petherton, on Friday, February 19.

The evening, which starts at 7.30pm, will feature two very different guests with local connections.

Alistair Fyffe, from Seavington, will share anecdotes from his extraordinary life, such as his experiences of being a high sheriff, a military commander and a military attaché in Russia.

He will be followed by Tracey Smith, a broadcaster, journalist, writer and cookery teacher, who lives between Crewkerne and Chard.

Tracey will speak on a variety of subjects, including how she invented the National Downshifting Week, a successful national campaign which encourages simpler living, and why she decided to write The Book on Rubbish Ideas.

The 'In Conversation With…' evenings, which are described as a cross between Parkinson and Question Time, have featured several well-known local personalities in the past, including Paddy Ashdown and Rosie Boycott.

Tickets, in aid of the Support The David Hall fund, cost £6 and are available from the box office on 01460-240340.

They can also be bought at N & D News, St James Street, South Petherton, and at the Community Information Centre.
