TOP jazz group the Douglas Marriner Jazz Quintet are returning to the Ilminster Arts Centre tonight.
The young musicians (pictured), who wowed audiences when they performed at the venue in April last year, have been making waves on the London scene with their unique approach to classic jazz arrangements.
They collectively draw experience from studying at Trinity College of Music, the Royal Academy of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music in New York, as well as playing regularly with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Lead by drummer and percussionist and Douglas Marriner, the quintet consists of Ben Mallinder on saxophone, Jonathan Murray on trumpet and flugelhorn, Matt Robinson on piano, Ollie Hopkins on double bass.
They will be on stage from 8pm, playing a mixture of modern interpretations of jazz standards and original compositions.
Tickets cost £10, with a pre-booked dinner available before the show costing £8.00 – to book call the box office on 01460-54973.
