THIS year’s Concerts in the West season kicks off at the Ilminster Arts Centre this week with a performance featuring one of music’s more unusual instruments.
The theorbo is one of the most bizarre Baroque instruments, and The Little Baroque Company will be bringing theirs when they perform on Friday.
Audiences will enjoy a programme of Trio Sonatas by the Italian masters Vivaldi, Tartini, Campioni, Corelli and Merula, played on period instruments.
The concert also sees the return of Helen Kruger (violin) who performed with Concerts in the West in 2006. She will bring with her an array of international talent, inlcuding Frouke Mooij (violin/viola), Kinga Gáborjáni (cello/viola da gamba), Manuel Minguillón (theorbo/baroque guitar/lute) and Laura Tivendale (harpsichord).
The Little Baroque Company will be on stage from 7.30pm and tickets are priced £12 – to book call 01460-54973 or follow the link below.
