CAR spray paint has influenced an artist whose work is currently on display in Chard.

Wambrook artist Margaret Hobby uses spray paint from car accessory shops to paint soft, dreamy views of the local area. Her work can be seen at The Gallery Café Bar and Bistro in Holyrood Street throughout September.

Margaret has developed new techniques at her studio in the Blackdown Hills, where she experiments with all manner of styles and materials. On display are vibrant colourful scenes along with abstracts and atmospheric depictions of places many of us know well.

The exhibition also features the work of Belinda Bather from Chard, who is showing delicate pencil sketches, in which she has used inks to create colourful impressions.

For many years Belinda lived for part of the year in Turkey, painting and sketching, and many will be familiar with her previous work inspired by that environment.

Belinda has been painting all her life and many of her works are of places she has visited on her worldwide travels.

Simon Cooper, manager of the Gallery Café said: “We are very happy to have their work on display. If you want to find out more please pop in and see us, call us or visit our website.”

Both artists have their paintings exhibited around the county. For more information on the exhibition contact the Gallery Café Bar and Bistro on 01460-261001 or go to chardandilminsternews.co.uk and follow the link to visit their website.
