PEOPLE in Ilminster have a one-off opportunity to catch a show this week which is to feature at the Edinburgh Fringe.

MAdD Theatre Company, in their last fling before heading up to Scotland, will be giving one public performance of their production of Retail Therapy at Sweet Surprise in Silver Street on Thursday, August 2, from 7.30pm.

The musical has been edited down from the version which toured Somerset last year, coming in at 50 minutes to fit with the Edinburgh slot – and it will be performed at the Greenside on the Royal Terrace, from Monday, August 13, to Saturday, August 18.

Thanks to the support they have received from the community, the group will not be charging for tickets. However, donations on the night for the theatre company, which is a not-for-profit company dependant on grants and private funding, are welcome. The cast have been busy preparing for the production over the last week – taking part in team building workshops and character development exercises with well-known local director Dave Walsham.

Dave said: “It’s been a privilege to work with such a talented and enthusiastic group of actors. I’m sure they will enjoy great success in Edinburgh.”

As well as next week’s performance, the company has been holding all their rehearsals at Sweet Surprise – and the group wanted to thank Jane Morgan and Chris Stuckey for their generosity. The Sweet Surprise students will also be in attendance at the production.
