A NEW James Bond trailer leaked on the internet is causing a massive stir among film lovers.

However this time it is not 007 saving the world but Jai Bindi: Secret Agent - India's newest member of the Intelligence Community.

Brainchild of Ealing-born cult comedian Ravi Patel and writer Paul Tait, Jai Bindi is a spoof spy set to rid the world of evil, one supervillan at a time.

With more guns, girls and fast cars than a Sean Connery flashback, the first clips of the Indian-spun action movie have now appeared on the internet.

Ravi, who plays the bumbling secret agent, said: "We have no idea who leaked the video. We don't know how it has happened."

There is already a buzz about the low-budget flick, which also features legendary Bollywood baddie Gulshan Grover.

And there is speculation that real-life 007 Roger Moore may also make a cameo appearance.

The plot is simple: Bindi, a struggling actor and massive James Bond fan, is convinced by MI6 and the Indian Intelligence Agency Bluebird, to stand in for one of their agents who has been killed trying to save the world from evil megalomaniac St John Smythe.

But the novice Clouseau-esque "agent" mistakenly thinks he has landed himself the main part in a new "reality film".

Believing that he can't get shot, Bindi is unaware that the fate of the world does actually rest on his shoulders.

Already praised by celebs like Radio One DJ Trevor Nelson and Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha, filming for the movie began in 2003.

Ravi said: "We thought of Jai Bindi as the Indian James Bond and together Paul and I started hammering out ideas.

"A lot of people have said to us that the concept of an Indian James Bond would work and it all started from there."

Distribution problems has meant the film - slated for release earlier this year - should now come out towards the end of 2007.

Ravi said: "It is not easy making a movie but we have had great feedback.

"There is a massive demand in India, but even so we are hoping to get it released in Britain first."
