ILMINSTER Cricket Club were enjoying the bragging rights after beating arch rivals Chard in the final of the Baker Cup competition at the County Ground in Taunton.

OLYMPIC Torch schoolboy Logan McKerrow, of Chard, was among the guests at No 10 Downing Street for an Olympic-party where he met, among others, Prime Minister David Beckham and football legend David Beckham.

PLENTY of people were telling the News about their London 2012 Olympic experiences, while local sports clubs were hoping that its success would be of benefit to them with an increase in members.

POLICE were urging people to take extra care when using cashpoints after a number of machines were tampered with in the Chard and Ilminster area.

THOUSANDS of people enjoyed glorious weather at the Yesterday’s Farming event held at Haselbury Plucknett.

STUDENTS across the area celebrated their successes in their GCSE and A-Level exam results.

TWO people were killed following a crash on the A3030 Ilminster by-pass.

FAMILIES were evacuated from their homes in Ilminster because of fears of a gas explosion following a car accident in Station Road which ruptured a gas main.
