Ticket to ride to Santa's Grotto!
12:00pm Saturday 12th January 2013 in News
VILLAGE playgroup organisers in Isle Abbotts have thanked everyone who supported a fundraising event held in the run-up to the festive season.
The playgroup was invited to use a privately-owned miniature railway in the Isle Abbotts area to take children and their parents to a Santa’s Grotto.
The sale of soup, rolls, cakes and drinks provided by the playgroup committee and supporters helped bring the total raised to £735.
Christine Blake, on behalf of the playgroup, said: “I would like to thank everyone who helped to make it such a really happy day – despite the deteriorating weather.”
She added that Mike and Angela Pettitt won a hamper in a raffle on the day.
The event was the culmination of a busy couple of months for the playgroup with the children involved in activities including a visit to the RSPB woods at Swell, the RSPCA centre at West Hatch and Deane Vets Centre in Taunton.
Curry Mallet Primary School also invited the children to take part in a Forest School firework-themed event and they entered the Christmas Tree Festival at Chard Baptist Church.
