Wadham Awards: School celebrates achievement
6:00am Sunday 20th January 2013 in News
THE achievements of students at Wadham School in Crewkerne over the past 12 months were celebrated at the annual presentation evening.
Youngsters from year 11 and year 13 who left the school last summer were invited back to receive their exam certificates and awards.
Dignitaries were among the audience along with representatives of community groups, head teachers from partner schools, governors, staff and parents.
Headteacher David Derbyshire said: “It always gives us great pleasure to welcome back so many Wadham students who have moved on to work, college and university, as well as those who have continued their education here at sixth-form.
“We were delighted to be able to celebrate their achievements and would like to thank them for their contribution to the school. We wish them all good health, success and happiness in the future.”
Guest speaker was Cllr Linda Vijeh, of South Somerset District Council and Ilminster Town Council. She was introduced by the president of Wadham’s head student team, Ruby Bremer-Smith, who was celebrating her 18th birthday on the night.
Musical entertainment was provided by Ellie Hoyle, Rosie Clark, Harriet Hodder and Lisa Shearman, who performed Use Somebody, and Jacob Pye and George Horgan, who performed Hallelujah.
