STAFF and pupils at Shep-ton Beauchamp Primary School are celebrating a report from Government inspectors.
The inspection took place before Christmas and, with OFSTED’S new benchmark standards set much higher than before, the school was delighted last week when it heard it had been rated ‘good’ in all areas with outstanding features. It received a ‘satisfactory’ grade in its previous inspection in 2009.
Chairman of governors Jesse Pattisson said: “It is a huge step forward for our school and to achieve a rating of ‘good’ across all areas is something that the school should be extremely proud of.”
The report said pupils of all abilities, including those with special needs, achieved well in learning. The inspector praised the exciting and creative tasks, the high quality resources, including iPads, and said the curriculum was effective in providing memorable experiences for pupils.
The report praised the quality of teaching, stating that all teaching was at least good and some was outstanding. The school was particularly pleased that it was applauded for its work with mixed-aged classes.
“Relationships are very positive and older pupils work very closely with the younger ones,” the report said.
Head teacher Karen Brooker said: “We are really pleased with the report and I would like to thank all the staff and governors for working so hard to continually develop our school’s high standard of education.”
