The A361 has been closed between East Lyng and Burrowbridge because of rising water on the road.

Following an inspection at 11.30am, Somerset County Council decided to close it.

The affected stretch of road is a spillway for flood water on the Somerset Levels, which can flow quickly, and motorists should not attempt to drive through it.

Diverted traffic should use the A38 or A39.

This road was closed for quite a few weeks. Then opened. Now closed again. Maybe it should be abandoned, left to be reclaimed by nature?. The problem seems unlikely to improve, only to get worse as time passes.
