Tatworth has charity in Sight

PUPILS presented the Somerset Sight charity with a £1,660 cheque last week – the result of donations made by parents and visitors during the village school’s run of Christmas productions.
The total was boosted with the proceeds of a Christmas postal service in school where children were able to give out festive cards to each other.
The school put on six Christmas shows with the largest collection made during the final performance which, for the past nine years, is held at Cricket St Thomas.
Tatworth Primary School headteacher David Knight said: “Our sincere thanks go to everyone who contributed – their generosity is a mark of how much they value the work of the charity and how much they enjoyed the shows.”
Somerset Sight works with people who “lack sight, not vision.” The charity is keen to give support to people who lose their sight, but who are determined to continue to lead a full and independent life.
Anne Fowler, from Somerset Sight, went along to the school to receive the cheque and she is seen with headteacher David Knight, the school’s special educational needs co-ordinator Lin Davies and pupils Finlay Downes and Bethany Hockey.
