Petition started to halt flooding on Somerset Levels

Winter Floods on the Somerset Levels - a view from Burrow Mump.
A PETITION to encourage dredging of rivers on the Somerset Levels has been started on a Government website.
Over 720 people have already signed the document, created by Andrew Lee.
Homes and businesses have been hit by several floods in the past year and several are still feeling the effects.

The roads and infrastucture will need repairs in places. Extra fuel spent on using diversions, for private users, haulage, and public sector cars/vans. Farmers unable to use their land. Potentially even loss of out of season torists.
Sometimes it pays to spend a bit of money.

*Taxation from farmers or other residents, road fund licence and fuel duty from people who have to drive tens of miles detour every day.
