Council says YES to farm park

PLANS for an animal park near Ilminster – which could attract up to 70,000 visitors a year – were last night approved by members of South Somerset District Council.

Montpellier Enterprises gained unanimous support from members of the council’s Area West committee during last night’s meeting at the Guildhall in Chard.

Redundant farm buildings and fields will be used at Horton Cross Farm, close to the Monks Yard centre, at Horton Cross, near Ilminster, for the promotion of British farming, locally produced products and rare breeds of farm animals.

Cllr Linda Vijeh said: “I’m very excited about this. Without exception, everyone I’ve spoken with has been in favour of this.”
