Call to name and shame dog fouling offenders
6:00pm Friday 8th March 2013 in News
DOG owners in Crewkerne are being urged to clear up the mess their animals leave behind.
A spokesman for Crewkerne Town Council said: “A minority of dog owners seem to think that it is acceptable to allow their dogs to foul pavements, footpaths and recreation grounds.
“If anyone has been unlucky enough to walk, push a wheelchair or pram through it, and then take it into the house, you will know how unpleasant it is.
“It is disgusting and anti-social behaviour and councillors are asking for your help to shame the culprits.”
The council is asking for people to pass on information about people they know who fail to clean up after their dogs.
“Anyone caught permitting their dog to foul in a public place can be fined £80 on the spot or up to £1,000 on conviction,” the council spokesman added.
Anyone with information should call South Somerset District Council enforcement officer Chris Rowland on 01935-462462.
