Bingo played for charity

BINGO players at the Bishop’s Court complex in Chard have helped to raise £300 for charity.

The money was given to Yeovil Freewheelers, which transports urgently needed medical items free of charge out of hours. The charity is funded entirely by donations, mostly from the public.

Bingo players have travelled in on the community Slinky bus from Ilminster, Misterton and elsewhere for eyes down at the Bishop’s Court retirement living scheme.

Chris Sweet, who has helped organise the bingo with Anne Bowden, said: “Some games attract a crowd of up to 40 players hoping for a win.”

The next charities to benefit are Yarlington Housing Group’s staff charity of the year, Yeovil District Hospital’s Flying Colours Appeal and St Marg-aret’s Somerset Hospice.
