COMIC RELIEF: Charity bike ride in memory of Paul
8:00pm Friday 15th March 2013 in News
STAFF at Sainsbury’s in Chard will be helping to swell the Comic Relief coffers with a charity bike ride.
The ride takes place on March 22-23 from Sainsbury’s at Midsomer Norton and covers 185 miles to end in Street, visiting 18 of the company’s stores along the way, including Chard’s.
The event is in memory of Paul Morgan, who worked for Sainsbury’s maintenance firm ARCUS and was a big supporter of Red Nose Day.
His partner, Laura Summers, of Worle, will be getting on her bike to take part in the charity challenge.
Chard store manager Dean Salter said: “Our colleagues and customers are passionate about raising money for Red Nose Day and felt taking the ride this year was a great way to continue the fundraising initiative Paul had been part of.
“Laura has said how touched she is by the number of Sainsbury’s colleagues taking part, especially as the ride’s for such a great cause, and feel that’s what Paul would have wanted.”
Sainsbury’s is again acting as an official outlet for Red Nose Day merchandise.
