All aboard for Royal Naval reunion All aboard for Royal Naval reunion

EIGHT members of the Chard branch of the Royal Naval Association met up with their old shipmates and pals at a reunion in north Devon.

The group attended the RNA Area 4’s 38th ann-ual reunion at the Durrant House Hotel in Bide-ford, where they enjoyed a packed weekend of reminiscing with Royal Navy veterans across the region.

The Chard group’s Dick Moon said: “The hotel was fully booked, and we enjoyed a packed weekend with excellant food, ample entertainment and superb company.”

During the weekend the guests were able to put on a concert of entertainment, and the Chard branch’s very own life member and standard bearer, Malcolm Day, was awarded the Yeovil Rosebowl award – first given to the RNA in 1995 – for the third time for best individual act.

He performed excellent renditions of songs by artists such as Tom Jones, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
