THE Environment Agency has issued a warning over possible flooding in the South-West.

Heavy rain has been battering much of the region, including Somerset, for most of the day and more downpours are forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

Ben Johnstone, from the Agency, said: "We strongly urge people to sign up to flood warnings on the Environment Agency website, keep a close eye on weather forecasts and be prepared for possible flooding.

"We also ask that people stay safe and not try to wade or drive through any deep water."

The Agency is monitoring river levels and says it expects to issue flood alerts and possibly flood warnings if the rainfall continues as forecast.
