Big day out for housing team

TENANTS of Yarlington Housing Group across the area have been asked for their views on where the company’s future investment should be prioritised.
With increasing energy costs, a shortage of housing, high unemployment, reliance on internet access and a rising older population, deciding where to concentrate investment is a huge undertaking.
Representatives of Yeovil-based Yarlington Housing Group have spent a day visiting 2,500 households in the area, including Chard, to ask them where they believe the money would be best spent.
Executive director Phyl-lida Cuplin said: “In planning ahead we need to be sure we consider the priorities of our residents, and what better way than to ask them?
“Our Big Day Out gets our staff out into neighbourhoods to meet them, talk to them and hear about what matters to them.”
With over 9,000 properties providing homes for 17,500 people, Yarlington has an ideal chance to gather a range of views across the age ranges and enable it to make informed decisions on subjects including the expansion of internet acc-ess, installation of energy-saving devices and providing services for older people.
The findings of the res-earch will form part of Yar-lington’s 2020 Vision to take it into the next decade.
