Home improvement boost

A COUPLE who are residents of South Somerset Homes and live in Somerton are absolutely thrilled with the recent improvement works that have been undertaken to their home.

The homes in Queens Road were refurbished as part of South Somerset Homes' continuing programme of improvements to properties.

A successful collaboration between South Somerset Homes, Bluestone, Curtins and Slade Parry Partnership resulted in 12 former concrete homes in Somerton being refurbished nine weeks ahead of schedule. The project was completed within the original budget and achieved high levels of customer satisfaction and quality.

All the homes have had the ground floor external walls renewed or upgraded to meet modern standards of insulation. All the properties have new kitchens, bathrooms and central heating improvements.

Beryl and Maurice Willmott said that the workmen had been absolutely brilliant whilst working on their home.

"We want to say a big thank you to the workmen for the marvellous work they have done," he said. "Nothing was too much trouble and they answered our queries with an infinite amount of patience."

Graham Cook, head of property management at South Somerset Homes, was delighted with how the project has completed.

"The project began at the start of April, and it is superb that it is completed before Christmas," he said. "South Somerset Homes hopes all of the families will be very happy and comfortable in their refurbished homes."

Marc Bayley, director at Bluestone PLC, added: "We are looking forward to working with the other team members again on next year's project at the Milford Hillcrest Road area of Yeovil and continuing our partnership with South Somerset Homes and the other team members long into the future."
