Charity single performance in Martock church this weekend
9:00am Thursday 19th December 2013 in News
BELINDA Evans, famous for her performances on the hit BBC TV series ‘How do you solve a problem like Maria’, has recorded a charity single for the Flying Colours Appeal, entitled Frail Birds.
All proceeds from the single will go towards the new Special Care Baby Unit at Yeovil Hospital.
James Kirton, head of fundraising for Yeovil Hospital, said: “Belinda called and said that she had the perfect song for us and would love to record it, with all proceeds going to the appeal.
"The fact that our appeal now has its own charity single is spectacular. I know what a fantastic talent Belinda is and I am so pleased she has chosen to support the Flying Colours Appeal and help us to give local families a bigger and better Special Care Baby Unit.”
Belinda said: “It is beautiful and emotional ballad written by local composer Helen Porter. When I heard about the Flying Colours Appeal, I thought this song would fit perfectly and would be a great way to try to help raise funds.”
Belinda will be performing the single at a concert in Martock's 14th Century church on Saturday, December 21.
Proceeds from this event will be split between the new Special Care Baby Unit and the Guardians of Martock Church who are raising funds for the preservation of this important local landmark.
Concert tickets cost £9 on the door, or £8 if bought in advance by calling 01935-822706.
Before the concert begins at 7.30pm, there will be mulled wine and mice pies available.
