REVIEW OF THE YEAR: August

Yeovil Express: THE Chard triplets, who were born in August, cuddle up together. THE Chard triplets, who were born in August, cuddle up together.

THIS was arguably the cutest picture ever published in the News - of these Chard triplets.

Adorable Alexander, centre, Benjamin, left, and Cameron were born at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, on July 29, and all returned home to Reed Close in Chard.

Proud parents Lucia and Luis Mesquita were ecstatic, but understandably very busy.

Also delighted was Chard-based Jodie Anne Photography, which specialises in newborn photos and took the picture, which has been 'liked' by thousands of people on Facebook.

PROPOSALS put forward by David Wilson Homes for a 110-home development on land east of Crimchard in Chard were soundly rejected by South Somerset District Council's Area West committee.

It was no surprise that councillors voted unanimously to refuse the application on Wednesday, coming immediately after a proposed 350-home development, submitted by Mactaggart & Mickel, was also thrown out by the council.

Members of the public spoke out at the meeting against the proposals with just as much gusto and concern as they had when the Mactaggart & Mickel proposals were put forward.
