A PROJECT designed to cross the generations has been launched in Chard.
Residents of Oak Lodge Care Home have joined together with pupils from Manor Court Primary School on The Archie Project – a community initiative created to reduce the stigma and fear associated with the word ‘dementia’.
The project’s focal point is a book which tells the story of a scarecrow with dementia called Archie, following him on a journey from exclusion, and the associated feelings, to an inclusive person-centred community approach to the condition.
Over the next year many other schools, care homes and businesses in the Chard, Crewkerne and Ilminster area will be taking part in a wide variety of shared, community projects to raise awareness of dementia.
If you are from a school or a care home and are not yet involved, contact Reminiscence Learning on 01823-323752, 01823-433720 or fiona@reminiscencelearning.co.uk
