A PLANNING appeal hearing which was due to begin this week has been postponed.

An application by David Wilson Homes to build up to 110 houses on land east of Crimchard was turned down by South Somerset District Council planners last August.

But the developer is appealing that decision, amid a raft of opposition to the plans.

Evidence from all interested parties was due to be given at a hearing at the Guildhall this week, but that has been postponed.

A planning inspectorate spokesman said: β€œAn environmental impact screening assessment must be undertaken to consider the impact on the area before the inquiry can continue.”

It is expected the rearranged hearing will take place within a few weeks.
