THE new neighbourhood police team sergeant for the Chard, Ilminster and Crewkerne area says it’s “business as usual”.
Sgt Rob Jameson has taken on responsibility for the region from Sgt Richard Barnett.
For the past year he has been looking after Langport, Somerton and South Petherton, and for three years before that he was a response sergeant in Chard, so he knows the area well.
He said: “I think knowing the area is a big advantage, but also knowing the people really helps.
“The main thing I want to get across to people is that it will be the same beat managers and PCSOs in our towns, and keeping that continuity between them and the community is vitally important.
“It’s business as usual as far as I’m concerned, and I’m looking forward to continuing the good work Rich was doing.
“My priorities reflect the Police and Crime Commissioner’s, which are anti-social behaviour, domestic violence, burglary and ensuring that victims are at the heart of the criminal justice system.”
