A MAN who made hundreds of nuisance 999 calls to the police has been given a 24-month conditional discharge.

Jeffrey Dyke, of Winterhay Lane, Ilminster made more than 200 calls to Avon and Somerset Constabulary without good reason.

He pleaded guilty to using a public electronic communications network for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another and was sentenced at Yeovil Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Dyke, 49, was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £15 surcharge for the offences.
