THE family of murder victim Catherine Wells-Burr have met Justice Minister Jeremy Wright to put across their arguments to keep two of her killers in the UK.

Catherine’s mother Jayne, father Philip and sister Leanne were accompanied by local MP David Laws as they sought to convince Mr Wright not to transfer Rafal Nowak and Anna Lagwinowicz to prison in Poland.

The pair, with Tadevsz Dmytryszyn, were each sentenced to a minimum 32-year jail term after being convicted last year but could be eligible for parole after 25 years if the transfer goes ahead.

Catherine was murdered in September 2012 and the latest meeting follows the family’s trip to Downing Street in London when they handed over a petition signed by thousands of people asking Mr Wright to keep the Nowak and Lagwinowicz in a UK prison.

Mr Laws said: “This was a terrible murder and I fully understand why the family and friends of Catherine, as well as many local residents, feel so strongly about this.”
