Top ten most expensive streets to live in Ilminster
HOMES in one road in Ilminster are ten times more expensive than the cheapest street in the town.
House price sales in the last five years from OurProperty.co.uk show properties in The Beacon are on average the most costly at £356,250.
The Beacon only just beats Green Lane to top spot, as properties there come in at £350,833.
Other exclusive addresses in Ilminster include Church Walk at £283,750, Fortnum Place, which sell for an average of £273,991, and New Road, where a house is likely to cost about £257,571.
Andrew Perry, residential Partner at Greenslade Taylor Hunt in Ilminster, said the value of properties was affected by several factors.
He added: “The size, age, construction and, of course, more importantly, proximity to the town centre are factors with Court Barton being one of the most favoured areas of the town, situated just behind The Minster. Prices in this area over the last three years have ranged from £675,000 for one of the larger houses to £173,500 for a two-bedroom cottage.
“Other very popular addresses include Breowan Close, Greendale and the new developments along Canal Way. Many of the properties on the outskirts of the town, like The Beacon and Townsend, adjoin open countryside and also enjoy excellent views.
“Ilminster is favoured by many of our purchasers for its friendly atmosphere and good road communications, making it a great place to live at any of the addresses in town.”
Figures show detached properties in Ilminster average £283,053, semi-detached homes £200,162, and terraced properties £163,315.
The average house price of properties for sale in Ilminster is £243,573.
In 12 roads in the town the average price paid for a property in the last five years was below £100,000.
