PEOPLE are being asked to be on the lookout for robbers targeting ATM machines across South Somerset.
Police say a series of attacks have taken place at the smaller independent type of ATMs that are free standing or secured to counters within small stores and garages.
Sergeant Rob Jameson added: “The robbers use a stolen 4x4 vehicle to force entry to the premises and then pull the ATM out with a chain or rope. They later force entry to it at a remote location.”
The operation to catch these thieves is being led by DI Martyn Cannon and people should call 999 if they see anyone acting suspiciously around premises with these types of ATMs in them.
