PARADES took place in Chard and Ilminster on Sunday to celebrate St George’s Day.

In Chard, a parade made up of schoolchildren and dignitaries, including Mayor Jenny Kenton, left the Guildhall and walked around the town before finishing at St Mary’s Church where a service was held.

In Ilminster, members of scout groups across South Somerset took part in a parade from Greenfylde School to the Minster.

The weather was not kind to marchers and the parade after the church service was cancelled.
