MEMBERS of Chard RFC under-16s are taking part in the International Three Peaks Challenge.

The endurance event will see the group climb the three highest peaks in mainland Britain – Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lake District, England, and Snowdon in Wales – within 24 hours.

The challenge takes place between Sunday and Monday, June 22 and 23.

Martin Carnell, one of the squad coaches, came up with the idea of entering the competition to keep the players’ fitness and interest levels up during the off-season and to raise funds for The Firefighters Charity and the Mini & Juniors Section at Chard RFC.
