RETAILER Hobbycraft is opening a new store on Houndstone Retail Park in Yeovil on Thursday 10 July.
The store will open its doors to the public on Thursday 10 July at 9am, with the grand launch taking place on Saturday 12 July with a weekend of celebrations. The celebrations will include art demonstrations from the new team, ‘make and play’ sessions for children, free balloon modelling and face painting. The first 100 customers through the doors on Saturday will also receive a free gift.
The arts and crafts store - which will be located in a brand new, 12,544 sq ft unit - has created 17 new jobs for local people. Over 150 applications were received.
Among the new recruits is Nicky Cresswell, 37, from Langport. Nicky is delighted with her new position after being unemployed for the past two years due to health issues.
Nicky said: “This is a dream role for me and I’m over the moon to have been offered a position within the team. I’m passionate about crafting, particularly papercraft, and my new role means I’ll be able to be more creative in the workplace and share my skills with others. I’m also very excited about building relationships with local groups, who share our passion for making and creating.”
Store manager, Paul Dunford, said: “We’ve all worked very hard over the past few weeks to make sure the store is exactly what people have been asking for. Whether you’re at an advanced level or just want some tips on how to get started, we’ll have something to offer everyone.
Our colleagues are devoted crafters and they’re always happy to share their knowledge. Local artists will also be invited to spend time at the store to showcase their own skills.”
