A SCHOOL community is jumping for joy after learning of their record-breaking exam results.

Neroche Primary School, near Ilminster, moved into the top ten primary schools across the county, out of 226 other schools, after it achieved a 95% pass rate in their SATs results.

Their results were 10% above the national average and saw the 95% pass rate at the expected level four grade in reading, writing and mathematics.

At the higher level five results, there were even more impressive results with the school achieving 76% pass rate in reading, 62% in writing and 57% in maths, which the school says were significantly above the national averages and has now ranked them as fourth in the county.

Head teacher Connel Boyle said: “I am extremely proud to be the head teacher of this school.

“We have a super balance of committed staff, parents and children, working together to achieve the best we can for our children.

“Every child has made exceptional progress in our year six cohort this year.

“I am also astounded that almost 20% of our pupils achieved a level six in maths.

“Our provision ensures all children from reception to year six of all ability ranges are well catered for at Neroche.

“We cannot wait for the new school year to begin as many families join our growing and successful school community.”

Primary Schools now have the opportunity to enter some pupils at level six, equivalent to a grade C at GCSE for pupils aged 11, and four of Neroche’s budding mathematicians, Tiegan Own, Lisa Johnson, Lorna Warren and Emily Deeming, passed.
