SOUTH Somerset District Council’s Community Heritage Access Centre (CHAC) has just produced their third ‘Yeovil in Living Memory’ calendar.

Staff have drawn on the considerable collection of photos held at the Centre to put together a set of fascinating photos showing Yeovil as it was in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

As the pages turn each month the pictures will surely bring back a great many memories and provide an opportunity to see how much the town has changed over the past fifty years or so.

The 2015 Calendar was funded by a grant from the Arts Council.

The Heritage Team applied for funding from the Arts Council to produce the 2015 Yeovil in Living Memory calendar under the Small Grant, Big Improvement scheme.

The Arts Council were so impressed by previous calendars that they awarded the maximum grant of £2000 to the Heritage Team to produce and promote the 2015 Calendar.

The profit that is made from the calendar sales goes towards looking after the historic collection at CHAC and this also secures the production of the calendar in future years.

Cllr Sylvia Seal, portfolio holder for Leisure and Culture said, “Our 2014 calendar sold out very quickly last year, which shows the level of interest in the history of Yeovil.

"The calendar is a fantastic opportunity for residents to take a good look at the history of Yeovil through 2015.

"Each month’s picture is very interesting and will get you thinking about just how much the town has changed over the years”.

The calendars are available at £6 each or two for £10.

Please add £1.50 for postage and packaging.

All proceeds will go towards the care of the collections at CHAC. T
